Advocating for justice

World Vision is an organization that strives to bring about sustainable development. It takes a human rights-based approach rooted in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Convention on the Rights of the Child, and Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, among others. Consequently, it works to change unjust social structures that oppress people and lower possibilities for the development of the communities with which it works.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, we are making joint efforts with other key actors (within the framework of equitable international relations) to transform our region. The goal is for the area to be characterized by societies that are just, equitable, hold diversity dear, observe human rights, that its governments be fully democratic and committed to the eradication of poverty, and that economic systems prevail in it benefiting the whole of society.

What is Advocacy?

Work involving processes and actions aimed at furthering the full observance and exercise of the fundamental rights of all human beings regardless of gender, paying special attention to groups living in vulnerable circumstances, through education, raising awareness, ombudsmanship, and political pressure.
