Corina’s position as Vice-President has afforded her the opportunity to oversee implementation of projects engaged in emergency assistance and development involving and benefiting roughly 10 million individuals in 14 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

She has worked for World Vision and other non-governmental organizations in Peru, Canada, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Switzerland, and the United States. She has devoted a great portion of her career to working with rural and urban communities. She has played different leadership roles for World Vision International.

She has a Licentiate Degree in Social Work and a Masters Degree in Urban Planning and International Development.

COO FOR LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN

Languages: Spanish, English, French and Creole

Over 20 years in the institution has given Wesley a consummate understanding of humanitarian work. He spent ten of these years working as the National Director of WV Haiti. In 2008 he assumed the role of COO for the Latin America and Caribbean Region. He is also a co-founder and Director of the Haitian newspaper Le Ping. He served as strategic planning facilitator for HAVA (a network of Haitian NGOs) and for ROCHEPE (a network of Christian sponsorship organisations), and he also has experience as a university professor, among other professional experience.

Wesley has studied the following: communications and journalism, psychology, internationals relations, law, theology, and has earned an MBA.

He currently lives in Panama.

SENIOR REGIONAL DIRECTOR

Area of expertise: Management

Languages: Spanish and English

The functions that Rafael has performed include coordinating the management of the regional office and facilitating technical support to the 14 national offices throughout the region in areas associated with transformational development. He also provides support to the office of Regional Vice President in specific matters dealing with the offices, and as representative to the Partnership and target audiences on specific issues.

He has held various positions such as Assistant in the Area of Church Relations, Director of Operations, Director of Services to the Partnership, Associate Director and National Director of the NO in El Salvador.

He has served in several ministries in the church, was involved in various movements promoting church unity, and has university teaching experience.

He has earned a Licentiate Degree in Economics and Sociology and an MBA.

Areas of Specialization: Theology and Pastoral Action

Harold is a Colombian who directs the area of Christian Commitment, which includes Spiritual Enrichment, Ecclesiastical Affairs, and Christian Testimony. He also served for some months as the Interim National Director of World Vision Bolivia.He has a Licentiate Degree in Business Administration, with a major in Strategic Human Resources Administration, a Licentiate Degree in Theology and a Masters Degree in Theology, with a major in Pastoral Psychology. He is currently a student in the Doctorate in Theology Program at the Javeriana Pontifical University in Bogotá, Colombia.

He is the author of the books entitled Hacia una espiritualidad comprometida (Toward Committed Spirituality), Más allá de la utopía (Beyond Utopia), and Y un niño los pastoreará (And a Child Shall Shepherd Them). He is a contributing author to the periodical publications Signos de Vida (Signs of Life) and Apuntes Pastorales (Pastoral Notes).

Area of Specialization: Public Health, International Health, and HIV/AIDS

Languages: Spanish and EnglishRamón is an Advisor for the design, development, monitoring, and evaluation of strategies for the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS. He facilitates technical information, tools of planning, experience exchange and capacity building for an appropriate, comprehensive response to the local context in countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. He promotes collaborative relationships with regional pro-child protection agencies, combats stigma, and defends human rights and the focus on children and young people. He promotes the management of resources, including financial resources, for projects and programs.

Ramón worked as a public health specialist and epidemiological doctor in Honduras, he occupied various technical and managerial positions, including that of National AIDS Program Director, Regional Central American Projects Coordinator and principal researcher in several epidemiological studies dealing with HIV. He is an experienced university professor. He has served as a consultant on matters concerning HIV and AIDS, strategic planning in health and maternal/infant health for several multilateral/bilateral organizations and NGOs in different countries throughout Latin America. He has conducted 30 scientific presentations at national and international conferences, including the publication of technical and scientific reports on the issues mentioned above in professional journals and other official documents.

He is a Doctor of Medicine and a Surgeon, with a Masters Degree in heath sciences, with a major in international health and a post doctoral degree specializing in HIV and AIDS.

Gloria lends support to and advises the 14 national offices throughout the region on processes of change and transition toward new sponsorship-related systems and policies. She monitors and ensures regional compliance of policies and standards established for the sponsorship system, providing qualified consulting services to the Office of the Vice-President, the Senior Regional Director’s Office, and Technical Staff Directors at the National Offices.

She began he relationship with World Vision at the office in Guatemala, where she held several positions, the last of which was that of Public Relations Coordinator and Sponsorship. This position involved directing the Sponsorship, Communications, and Project Information Departments.

She has higher education studies in Informatics and Business Administration, as well as certification in Office Automation.

José is in charge of providing technological vision and leadership to countries in the Latin American and the Caribbean Region, besides representing the region before the different global entities that generate technological strategy and vision for the entire Partnership.

Among his duties is that of seeking out more and better alternatives for carrying out our work through the use and application of technology, and thus lowering operating costs and achieving greater impact on communities through out work day-to-day.

Before coming to World Vision, he worked as General Project Manager for prestigious companies that developed software for the North American market, and as an expert in informatics process quality issues. He also has a degree in Systems Engineering with a major in authoring information systems.

Area of Specialization: Organizational Strategy, Transformational Development, and Ministry Quality

Languages: Portuguese, Spanish, and English.

João co-directs the Comprehensive Our Future Pilot Project, a World Vision Partnership initiative designed to promote contextualization and adaptation of principal components of the Partnership’s Global Strategy in Central America and Mexico.

He worked 17 years at World Vision Brazil, holding the positions of Rural Development Advisor, Microfinance Manager, Director of Economic Development and Associate Director of Marketing and Fundraising.

He has been working at the Latin American and the Caribbean Regional Office since February 2006, serving as Regional Coordinator for Transformational Development and Ministry Quality, before taking on his current position.

He has a degree in Agronomy, a postgraduate degree in Tropical Agriculture, and a Masters Degree in Business Administration.

SENIOR REGIONAL ADVISOR FOR STRATEGIC FINANCE

Areas of expertise: Financial analysis, monitoring and evolution, integration

Before Hugo began working for World Vision, he worked almost four year as Senior Advisor for Business Processes at PricewaterhouseCoopers Guatemala as part of the Change Integration Team, developing redesign projects and working on finance and administration processes. From 2005 to 2007, he worked for World Vision Guatemala as Finance Manager and Director of Organisational Effectiveness. While performing these roles, he was responsible for high level financial analysis, national strategy, monitoring and evaluation, IT, Human Resources, and Christian Commitments.

In 2007, he participated as a member of the Economic Model team of the Nuestro Futuro (Our Future) Pilot Project conducted from World Vision’s Latin America and Caribbean Regional Office (LACRO) and also represented LACR as a member of the Financial Analysis team for the Redesign of Regional Offices Project.

After his experience working for WV, he worked as Finance Manager for Excelergy, an energy company in Guatemala. He holds a Master’s Degree in Finance from Rafael Landívar University in Guatemala.

He currently resides in Guatemala.

SENIOR ADVISOR ON PUBLIC POLICY, IMPACT AND POSITIONING

Areas of expertise: Impact, Public Health and Development

Amanda brings to WV her experience in Public Policy, Impact, Public Health and Food Security, gleaned from 10 years working as Policy Advisor, Coordinator of Programmes, and Consultant at organisations such as the Christian Children’s Fund International, the Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellowship, the American University, Farmworker Health Services, Inc., and The Peace Corps in Honduras.

She has earned a Master’s Degree in International Development from the American University and a B.A. in International Affairs from George Washington University.

REGIONAL ADVISOR FOR HUMANITARIAN AND EMERGENCY AFFAIRS (HEA)

Areas of expertise: Humanitarian emergencies, fundraising

Nery brings to WV 11 years of experience with Misión Latinoamericana Canadá as Coordinator of Emergency Projects in Cuba, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. Before coming to World Vision, Nery occupied several positions: Founder and Director of “Grupo La Casa Grande” Counselling Centre in Costa Rica, Director of fundraising and development and Christian Counselling Teacher at ESEPA Seminary in Costa Rica, Counsellor with the Salvation Army, and Counsellor for sponsored refugees with World Vision Canada.

Nery was born in Guatemala and is also Canadian citizen. He holds a Master’s Degree in Divinity with a major in Counselling from Tyndale Seminary in Toronto, and a BS in sciences and literature from the INCV in Guatemala.

DIRECTOR OF ORGANISATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS AND QUALITY ASSURANCE

Areas of expertise: Management of human capital, recruitment and selection, development of managerial capacities

Mauricio’s career and experience in HR & LD span roughly 10 years. From 1998 to 2002 he worked as a private consultant on projects such as opening a multinational human resources company in Costa Rica, which included providing advisement on Human Resources, payroll, recruitment and selection, human capital problems and evaluation centres.

From 2002 to 2008, he directed Human Resources and corporate organisational development for Grupo Comeca, one of the largest private sector groups in Central America devoted to manufacturing solutions for packaging, retailing, agribusiness, tourism, real estate properties, finance, and agriculture with over 7,000 co-workers. In this position Mauricio was responsible for managing and directing the operation of the Human Resources systems in all of the group’s companies in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Peru, and leading the company’s strategic planning process and strategic management. He was also responsible for implementing corporate procedures and organisational policy in all offices for Human Resources, compensation and benefits policy management, and for senior executive management and management skills.

While working for Grupo Comeca, he also worked in organisational development, organisational change, leadership, organisational culture programmes and organisational satisfaction surveys.

Mauricio has a university degree in Political Science with a certification in Economic and Administration. He also holds an MBA with a major in international business, marketing and sales, and human resources.

He currently resides in Costa Rica.

REGIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR

Languages: Spanish and English

Alfredo as over 10 years’ experience in development and administration of security and contingency plans in crisis situations, telecommunications planning, risk management, and imparting training sessions on proactive and reactive security. He has taken on positions as Local Security Advisor for the United Nations Security Department in El Salvador and Chief of Security for Grupo Poma, a Salvadoran consortium with investments in the hotel industry, shopping malls, and new car sales.

Alfredo is Salvadoran, has studied Industrial Engineering at the University of El Salvador and Business Administration at the Technical University of El Salvador. He also holds a certification in Total Quality Management and in Reengineering from the Central American Business Institute (ICNE).

He resides in El Salvador, but is responsible for providing support to the entire region.

REGIONAL ADVISOR FOR CHILDREN IN MINISTRY

Languages: English, Spanish and Portuguese

Anna has a Doctorate in Medicine and specialises in Paediatrics, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in microbiology.

She has experience working as National Health Coordinator for WV Honduras, has also worked as a Child Protection Researcher with UNICEF, and as a Public Health consultant for WV Brazil and the Latin America and Caribbean la Regional Office, among others.

Anna is based in Colombia.
